Purpose of Role:

Xaar is the world leader in industrial digital inkjet technology. We are growing our business and have a number of opportunities for conscientious and enthusiastic Production Operators to support the manufacturing process as we further develop our product range. As a Production Operator you will be part of a team who manufacture, assemble and test components, in a cleanroom environment, for Xaar's world leading digital inkjet printheads.

 

Working alternating double day shifts:

Early shift: Monday – Friday (6am - 2pm)

Late shift: Monday – Friday (2pm – 10pm)

 

Reporting Relationships:

These roles report to Shift Supervisors

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Meeting daily production targets on time and using resources efficiently to minimise waste
  • Assembling/producing components to the required specification by using appropriate tests and inspections so that all work produced meets the requirement of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Complete online documentation and highlight deviations to the appropriate person
  • Identify opportunities for and contribute to continuous improvement of the production process
  • Ensure that health and safety guidelines are adhered to at all times
  • Clean and maintain work area as required
  • And any other duties commensurate with the level of the role

 

Key Challenges:

  • Delivering high quality output in a timely and efficient manner
  • Adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Maintaining attention to detail.

 

Key Internal Relationships:

Shift Supervisors, Process Engineers, Equipment Engineers.

 

Person Specification:

  • Ability to work on own initiative and with minimal supervision
  • A trusted team player with a flexible, can do attitude
  • Diligent and conscientious with a methodical approach and a keen eye for detail
  • Good written and verbal communication skills to ensure smooth handover between shifts
  • A high level of manual dexterity is essential in order to perform many of the production tasks
  • Pro-active in seeking ways to make processes more efficient and effective
  • Computer literate - confident using a computer to input information, type handover notes and send e-mails etc.
  • Willingness to learn new skills, processes or equipment as and when required
  • Willingness to work shifts
  • Good numeracy skills.

 

 Experience of:

  • Working in a manufacturing environment is highly desirable
  • Working in a cleanroom environment would be advantageous
  • Operating CNC machinery, chemical handling and electronics manufacture is highly desirable
  • Electro-mechanical assembly would be advantageous.

Purpose of Role:

To execute Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules and to deliver expert technical support in resolving equipment downtime events, all in support of minimising production downtime.

Reporting Relationships:

Maintenance Team Leader

Key Accountabilities:

  • To perform proactive Preventative Maintenance in accordance with PPM schedules
  • Respond to production downtime events, deploying effective problem solving methodologies to identify and resolve true root causes
  • Document and archive maintenance activities including both preventative and reactive to ensure knowledge retention and sharing
  • Use data to drive appropriate maintenance activities
  • Supporting purchasing / Equipment Engineering Coordinator teams in the sourcing and effective management of spare parts
  • Work cross-functionally to support company-wide issues or improvement projects, providing prompt, detailed progress updates to stakeholders

 Key challenges:

  • Focus on preventative maintenance and deliver against metrics
  • Effective prioritisation based on production requirements
  • Technical support of a multi-disciplined production environment
  • Identifying and implementing opportunities for predictive maintenance / analytics

Person Specification:

  • Positive outlook with a strong internal drive to understand and improve machines, systems and processes
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience deploying problem solving methodologies with a track record of results
  • Positive, determined and proactive attitude with willingness to collaborate cross-functionally
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise effectively
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Qualifications & Experience

  • Essential:
  • BTEC Level 3 or equivalent NVQ Level 2-3 in an Engineering discipline.
  • Appreciation and experience working to preventative maintenance schedules
  • Maintenance and optimisation of automation system
  • Experience and knowledge in the upkeep and repair of Pneumatic, Mechanical & Electrical system
  • Working knowledge of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and associated metrics
  • Experience in working to and generating documentation including change management
  • Computer literate (MS Outlook, Excel, Teams etc.)

 

  • Desirable:
  • Working knowledge of statistical control methods
  • Programming and vision system optimisation
  • Optical / Laser systems experience
  • Pick and place systems
  • Knowledge of wirebonding tools / processes
  • Vacuum deposition systems
  • Six Sigma Green Belt qualified would be advantageous

To support and develop the existing production lines for our bulk PZT printhead manufacture and to design and implement new processes and methods for New Product Introduction.

  • Laser ablation/cutting

To work with an established supplier base, ensuring quality standards are consistently maintained as well as working with new & existing suppliers on effective delivery of improvement & NPI projects

Operations Quality Manager

Key Accountabilities:

  • Utilising APQP / PPAP methods to deliver new parts to manufacturing
  • Actively managing suppliers, ensuring accountability for part conformance
  • Address supplier quality issues by driving corrective and preventative actions
  • Support internal and external audit activities
  • Issue resolution using recognised problem solving techniques

Key challenges:

  • Develop and maintain good relationships with Suppliers, Engineering, Production and R&D departments
  • Delivery of new components / projects on time and in budget
  • Generating and maintaining supplier quality-related documentation
  • Effective stakeholder management
  • Reporting KPIs to management
  • Reviewing supplier documentation including 8Ds, drawings, design for manufacture feedback
  • Adhere to change management processes

Person Specification:

  • Degree qualified in an engineering discipline and/or engineer with significant experience in a Supplier Quality Engineering role
  • Experienced quality professional with broad knowledge of manufacturing processes and validation procedures
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with an appreciation for the importance of effective communication and stakeholder management
  • Excellent computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Valid Passport & Driving License
  • Willingness to travel both nationally and internationally
