Purpose of Role:

Project Engineering is responsible for the management of Capital procurement projects for Operations and R&D within Xaar. Projects can take the form of technically advanced bespoke automated production & test equipment. Critical to the success of Xaar’s manufacturing facility, Project Engineering will undertake the specification, supplier selection and project co-ordination for Production tools throughout design, build and validation phases of projects. Project engineering will also take the lead in the supply of R&D and test equipment using the same methodology and accountability. New equipment projects are run alongside upgrades of existing tools, the retrofit of current technology to legacy equipment or software and hardware upgrades in support of the product development roadmap of the business.

  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills that enable successful coordination of project activities across different functional groups
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to report project status succinctly, highlighting to management all information that is of particular importance

Experience:

  • Engineering Degree preferable but not essential
  • Demonstrable experience of Manufacturing/ Engineering - preferably within semi-conductor, medical or other highly automated industries
  • Working knowledge of problem solving techniques e.g. 6 Sigma, 8D, A3 process including Data analysis
  • The Management of complex capital equipment projects including budgets
  • Desirable but not essential is knowledge of optical systems, chemical handling systems, robotic assembly cells, Electrical interconnect equipment & bespoke PC controlled automation and test equipment.

Purpose of Role:

This individual will be part of a talented and flexible team, working on key customer applications, as well as on new and existing technologies, products and systems.

 

Execution of projects would typically involve printhead waveform development, printing trials, simulations and automation. Such projects could be customer applications or Xaar technology focussed and should be met with original thinking in order to uphold the fundamentals of the Advanced Applications and Technologies (AAT) group.

 

The Graduate Engineer will be driven by developing solutions for project stakeholders by working closely with those stakeholders to:

  • Develop solution for customers’ demands, e.g. a suitable waveform for optimized jetting, or a printing process
  • Develop own understanding of the science behind inkjet technology
  • Be involved in developing new technological solutions for the next generation of Xaar products
  • Exchange knowledge and know-how with team members (working within a team of engineers)

 

The goal is to grow in this role and developing subject matter expertise in novel applications and core technologies whilst growing in Engineering status.

 

Reporting Relationships:

The role reports directly to the AAT Team Leader with direct contact to the Head of Advanced Applications, Technologies and Fluids.

 

Key Accountabilities:

The Graduate Engineer will be working within a team on specific Xaar Technology and Customer Application projects. The project execution, while executed within a team, may also include leveraging resources within AAT, within Xaar and externally in order to reach a satisfactory conclusion.

 

After an initial period, the individual is expected to be able to plan and lead single work packages of smaller or larger projects. This includes involvement in direct relationship to customers, reporting results and agreeing on technical project stages.

 

Additionally, it will be part of the role to represent Xaar at conferences, fairs and during customer visits which may include presenting.

 

Key Internal Relationships:

Guidance and mentoring will be given by the AAT Principal Engineers and it is also expected that the individual will occasionally be part of, or interacting with, a wider range of Agile teams across the business hence reporting to the team lead for each project.

Whilst the role is located at the Stockholm / Sweden office, interaction with engineers and employees at other locations is part of the role.

 

The nature and importance of the work being conducted by AAT will also mean on occasion direct contact with the Executive Team.   

 

Person Specification:

  • Credible and confident. Knowledgeable in relevant engineering fields (physics, material science, fluidics, mechanical engineering).
  • Eager to work with cutting-edge technology in the field of digital printing, and develop novel applications of functional printing, 3D, material composition etc.
  • Enjoys working in the lab, but also involvement project planning, mechanical design, programming and simulation.
  • Intelligent, personable, team player, pragmatic but most importantly hands on. This role expects functional deliverables, but after an introduction period also project management will be likely.
  • Drive to deliver solution to sometimes complex problems. Looks ahead of the specification (task description) and tries to understand what the stakeholders are trying to do.
  • Comfortable working within a small agile team where their contribution, flexibility, energy, enthusiasm and drive to deliver high quality technical solutions to demanding applications and technology requirements will be critical.
  • Communication will be key, reporting to customers, team members and other stakeholders.
  • The individual will need to be able to, on occasion, travel off site either to customer sites or Xaar regional offices (both short and long haul).

 

Qualifications and experience:

Essential:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant subject, e.g. Physics, Electronic or Mechanical Engineering, with a basic understanding of the complexities involved with products, technologies and applications across different disciplines. 
  • Fluent in spoken and written English

We welcome applications from recent graduates and those who have some combination of the following desirable experience and qualifications:

  • Knowledge in Physics, Fluidics, Mechanics, Micro Systems, Engineering, Rheology.
  • Software skills to create scripts for measurement automatization or equipment programming (Python, C).  
  • Data analysis and presentation (Excel, Matlab).
  • Digital image processing and associated software tools i.e. RIP, Photoshop etc. 
  • Knowledge of printing technologies (inkjet printing, 3D printing, understanding of a broader field of printing techniques).
  • Experience with developing solutions for high-tech products and applications.
  • Ability to work with metrology and measurement tools (use of Oscilloscopes and similar equipment).
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical tooling and electrical circuits.
  • Preparation of reports and presentation of results (ideally to customers).
  • Fluency in Swedish is preferred, fluency in additional languages is beneficial.

Purpose of Role:

Xaar is the world leader in industrial digital inkjet technology. We are growing our business and have a number of opportunities for conscientious and enthusiastic Production Operators to support the manufacturing process as we further develop our product range. As a Production Operator you will be part of a team who manufacture, assemble and test components, in a cleanroom environment, for Xaar's world leading digital inkjet printheads.

Working alternating day shifts:

Early shift: Monday – Thursday (6am-2.15pm), Friday (6am – 1pm)

Late shift: Monday – Thursday (2pm – 10pm), Friday (12.45pm – 8.45pm)

Key Accountabilities:

  • Meeting daily production targets on time and using resources efficiently to minimise waste
  • Assembling/producing components to the required specification by using appropriate tests and inspections so that all work produced meets the requirement of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Complete online documentation and highlight deviations to the appropriate person
  • Identify opportunities for and contribute to continuous improvement of the production process
  • Ensure that health and safety guidelines are adhered to at all times
  • Clean and maintain work area as required
  • And any other duties commensurate with the level of the role

Purpose of Role:

To execute Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules and to deliver expert technical support in resolving equipment downtime events, all in support of minimising production downtime.

  • To perform proactive Preventative Maintenance in accordance with PPM schedules
  • Respond to production downtime events, deploying effective problem solving methodologies to identify and resolve true root causes
  • Document and archive maintenance activities including both preventative and reactive to ensure knowledge retention and sharing

Purpose of Role:

To build and promote customer orientation

To assist OEM (original equipment manufacturer) customers developing inkjet equipment in integrating Xaar’s technology; technically supporting pre/post sales through application and equipment development, product launch and ongoing product support. The role will involve customer visits in order to resolve customer issues and understand application requirements. This role is also expected to be Xaar’s prime technical contact to customers liaising between customers and Xaar engineering teams, Xaar 3rd party partners and in some cases ink partners and manage and report on activities between all parties.

 

Reporting Relationships:

This role reports to the Applications Engineering Manager, Global

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Liaise with sales to gain knowledge of OEM customer requirements and a clear understanding of customers’ anticipated products and how Xaar can become integral to them
  • Produce configuration proposals/work package/Statement of work (SoW) when appropriate
  • Install development kit, train customers in understanding the product and its capabilities and potential limitations
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders to agree project timeframes for overall development with customer
  • Produce detailed project plans and maintain in line with customer’s progress and expectations
  • Anticipate and deal with issues and barriers to customer development and liaise between Xaar Engineering and the customer to resolve issues
  • Ensure regular communication so that the projects run effectively internally and externally.
  • Maintain Xaar internal systems – RMA, Support inbox, Salesforce.

Experience:

  • Degree in an Inkjet, Scientific or Engineering subject would be preferable
  • Previous experience in a similar role is not essential however you should be able to demonstrate clearly transferable skills and experience
  • Proven experience in a customer facing role preferably in a B2B environment
  • Experience of the following would be advantageous:
    • Fluid systems- Inc Pumps, filters, dampers, sensors etc.
    • Precision Mechanical Alignment – Inc. an understanding of what may effect it
    • Electronics- Power supplies, High speed signals and datapaths Inc. an understanding of what may affect them
    • Software- Ability to interrogate and manipulate basic programing language/API
    • Image processing-CMKY Colour model, basic Photoshop skills.
    • Solid understanding and experience using Root Cause Analysis and Problem Solving Techniques.
