Purpose of Role
The overall objective of this role is to provide marketing support to Xaar’s business in China and the rest of Asia. The Regional Marketing Specialist work with the Head of Marketing and General Manager Asia to deliver the annual marketing plan for China and Asia, which will involve building relationships with key customer marketing contacts. In addition, this person will localise and deliver the sales collateral and other tools provided by the Global Marketing team, will carry out market research from time to time and also translate a range of content into English.
As this role has a regional remit, it will require an element of domestic travel (around 25%) with occasional foreign travel
Scale
- Responsible for delivering the marketing plan in China primarily but also the wider Asia region to some extent
Freedom to make decisions
- Working closely with the Head of Marketing and General Manager Asia to identify the marketing objectives, adapt the global marketing plan to the China market and measure and analyse results, reporting on a monthly basis.
- Contribute to decisions within global Marketing function
- The vast majority of work from the Marketing team has to be approved by line mangers or Exec
Complexity
- Managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Working with a Marketing team based in the UK
- Building internal relationships with colleagues based in the UK and elsewhere, many outside of China.
- Working in English everyday – being able to take English language collaterals and translate into Chinese
Planning horizon
- Project timescales will vary. Some will have very short deadlines of the next day or week, others will be several months long or possibly even longer.
Key Accountabilities
- Deliver the annual marketing Asiplan for Xaar in China
- Build strong brand perception in China and Asia in Xaar’s key target markets such as 3D printing, eV batteries, Textile printing
- Manage the planning and execution of content marketing initiatives across various channels, including messaging pillars, blogs, PRs, social media and sales enablement kit
- Provide support to sales, coordinating conferences and trade shows in the region
- Managing the PR programme in China, including building relationships with Chinese trade journalists, adapting from English or writing from scratch releases and despatching to Journalists to obtain coverage
- Manage Wechat channel, deliver content each month, measure results
- Manage the Xaar.cn website (including uploading content and managing any required design changes with local agency.
- Localise product marketing materials and other collaterals in line with the Xaar brand including management of translations from English
- Localise Xaar external communications
- Manage delivery of external events in the region which includes finding opportunities to exhibit, budget dependent
- Manage given budget, strategically plan and deploy the marketing activities in Asia, identify new opportunities (tradeshow, speaking platform, customer event etc) to maximise outreach and visibility in the region
- Manage and grow relationships with key OEMs and strategic partners, collaborating with customers to develop content
- Support OEM commercial visits in Asia
- Monitor market trends and collect marketing intelligence to inform commercial team
- Fulfil additional tasks as directed by the management to support the business success in Asia
About you
Knowledge, experience and qualifications:
- Degree in marketing or product marketing related discipline would be advantageous
- Fluent in English and Mandarin
- Strong written communication skills in Mandarin
- Strong social media marketing skills, solid experience in managing the social media platforms in China e.g. WeChat
- Strong communications and relationship building skills, both internally and externally
- Strong presentation skills
- Proven experience in marketing communications (ideally in technology products and definitely business to business) and in using associated tools to support sales objectives
- Proven experience of driving marketing communications for multiple market segments in order to address a range of application needs within a wide geographical region
- Successful management of trade and regional press relationships.
- Proven experience of organising trade fairs and other external events
- Relevant marketing qualifications (local equivalent of Chartered Institute of Marketing Diploma)
