Senior Technician - Product Validation

Purpose of Role:

The purpose of the Senior Technician – Product Validation role is to plan, setup and execute various tests on Xaar’s products, including printheads, ink supply systems and datapath components, for internal projects and/or or customer support, for the purposes of product validation.

 

Tests must be carried out diligently, in accordance with best practice and SOP, to produce quality data on a tight timeline.  All tests should be documented and reported back to the test requestor. 

 

The successful applicant will be trained to become a specialist in the use of Xaar’s products so that they can support the generation of test data for our New Product Development (NPD) activities.

 

Reporting Relationships:

  • Reports to: Team Lead – Product Validation.
  • Line management responsibility: none.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Working with the test requestor and Team Lead, create plans for product validation activities.
  • Follow test plans on product validation activities and present findings to the test requestor.
  • Develop and implement new test equipment and processes.
  • Contribute to development of documentation for department e.g. SOP’s.
  • Training of new and current staff, where appropriate.
  • Provide customer support when required.
  • Process improvement and adherence to H&S standards and operating procedures.

Key challenges:

  • Developing a core understanding of the fundamental operating principals of inkjet printheads, drive electronics, ink systems and printing practices.
  • Managing time and balancing priorities, sometimes conflicting.
  • Being able to deal with problems rationally and methodically.
  • Generating high quality output, including documentation, in a tight timescale.
  • Setting up work with the most appropriate hardware for the application.

Experience of:

  • At least three years’ experience as a technician in a similar industry.
  • A good grounding in Maths and Physics – ideally to A-Level standard or equivalent.
  • A good command of English.
  • Experience of following instructions and guidance.
  • Computer literate. Microsoft Office/Excel.
  • Experience of product verification and validation (ideal but not essential).
