Purpose of Role

The role of a Team Leader is to train, lead, empower, coordinate, and motivate a team to ensure continuity of 
output in line with agreed quality and performance targets. This is a working role so there is a requirement to 
work on the line whilst delivering that first line management support.

Key Accountabilities 

On a typical day you’ll be expected to: 

  • Lead a team ensuring the team is fully skilled to meet their work objectives productively and safely.
  • Ensure training is delivered using up to date SOPs and sign off documents. Along with ensuring 
    Training Matrix is fully up to date.
  • To ensure that daily production and quality targets are met through efficient allocation of resource.
  • The role is hands on with an expectation that time is split between meeting output requirements and 
    people management requirements.
  • Effectively managing both team and individual performance, addressing any issues as they arise, in 
    line with HR policy. (e.g.  1:1’s, IDP’s, PPR’s, return to work, timesheets).
  • People issues/processes/equipment dealt with efficiently and effectively.
  • Drive productivity and ensure that the highest quality standards are met.
  • To effectively communicate and report on KPI’s to both direct team and Shift Supervisor.
  • With support from the Shift Supervisor, plan, co-ordinate and organise training and development for 
    staff to ensure maximum flexibility.
  • To ensure that all process and equipment problems are communicated to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Manage and monitor Holiday and Absence in line with HR policy.
  • Ensure consistent high levels of 5S within the work area.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the level of the role.

 

 

Knowledge, experience and qualifications

  • Previous experience in a similar role is not essential however you should be able to demonstrate transferable skills.
  • Experience working in a production environment is desirable.
  • Able to use and understand operating systems and IT-based packages.
