The Xaar 502 GS15 O printhead has been chosen as the printhead technology for the 70mm C6000+ variant of the Domino C-Series Plus piezo ‘Drop On Demand’ outer case coders. The printhead incorporates Xaar’s PrecisionPlus and TF Technology® innovations, and provides OEMs with a fast, reliable, and high-quality solution perfect for the challenges of coding and marking.
The largest variant in the Domino C-Series Plus range, the C6000+ is a high-resolution, large-character printer used to mark porous and semi-porous substrates – for example, cardboard boxes, trays, and bags – for identification, traceability, and graphic personalisation. It is capable of printing TrueType fonts, graphics, and GS1 compliant barcodes, and provides a maximum print height of 70mm, making it ideal for direct coding onto outer case packaging.
The Xaar 502 GS15 O printhead offers highly accurate drop placement, and utilises Xaar’s cutting-edge piezoelectric actuator design, PrecisionPlus, the benefits of which include a long throw distance and increased stability and robustness. With its optimised nozzle guard to support automated maintenance routines, the Xaar 502 GS15 O is ideal for use in harsh, demanding coding and marking environments.
The printhead also incorporates Xaar’s unrivalled TF Technology®, which can be run in either full through flow mode or pulsed mode. This optional mode recirculates ink behind the nozzles during non-printing periods, ensuring maximum reliability and performance, high energy-efficiency, and market-leading printhead lifespan.

The Xaar 502s combination of PrecisionPlus and TF Technology® also enables fully optimised actuator performance when printing in multiple orientations, such as skyscraper mode, which deliver high drop volume as well as accurate drop placement.
In addition, it is compatible with a range of oil-based inks frequently used in coding and marking applications, including black mineral oil-free (MOF) SunJet IK822, the latest addition to Xaar’s approved ink portfolio. Designed for use on secondary packaging, this ink delivers high quality and optical density on a spectrum of porous and semi-porous substrates. Its main benefits are its handling safety and its capacity for easy breakdown during recycling – of particular interest to environmentally- and safety-conscious brand owners and retailers.
