New for drupa 2004, Xaar plc is showcasing its latest binary printhead – the OmniDot 380 – a robust product that forms part of Xaar’s new and exclusive OmniDot next generation printhead family. The printhead is available in 180 and 360dpi versions dependent on user requirements.
The OmniDot 380 is an extremely robust mid-range printhead that incorporates Xaar’s most innovative and high-specification technology to date. With experience taken from across Xaar’s entire printhead portfolio, the OmniDot 380 has been developed for the packaging and graphics markets with options for flatbed printing. The printhead has a robust metal chassis with a nozzle guard to protect its wetting nozzle plate, making it ideal for industrial print environments.
Commenting, David Frew, group marketing manager at Xaar says, “In response to customer demand we have created a new robust printhead which caters for the rigors of industrial applications. The OmniDot family has been developed using Xaar’s next generation inkjet technology. The OmniDot 380 is particularly significant because it’s our most revolutionary binary to the marketplace offering both speed and robustness.”
The OmniDot 380 has a print swathe of 53.8mm and 382 active nozzles. Comparing the two versions, the 180dpi has a drop volume of 80pl, a target firing frequency of 4KHz and target linear print speed of 510mm/s, while the 360dpi version has a drop volume of 40pl, a target firing frequency of 8KHz and a target linear print speed of 560mm.
The new OmniDot 380 printhead has also been designed with several integral features to make it integration-friendly such as an improved ink path for priming, and an enhanced mounting structure. It can accommodate solvent, UV and oil-based inks, further highlighting the flexibility of its performance.
