XAAR DEMONSTRATES LATEST PRINTHEAD FOR LABEL APPLICATIONS AT LABELEXPO ASIA

Latest developments signal future direction for label industry

Xaar will demonstrate its latest inkjet printhead, the Xaar 1001, producing high quality, high-speed narrow web label printing on stand J20 at Labelexpo Asia (28-30th November, Shanghai). 

This year several leading label printer manufacturers have chosen to integrate Xaar inkjet printheads in their UV narrow web digital systems to print top quality labels at speed. The Xaar 1001 printhead made its label printing debut at Labelexpo Europe in September in the innovative ‘Caslon’ modular print module developed by FFEI for Nilpeter. In addition, Sun Chemical’s new SolarJet™ and EFI’s Jetrion 4000 systems both rely on Xaar printheads to deliver industrial label printing performance. 

The ‘industrial strength’ Xaar 1001 is a variable drop (greyscale) printhead featuring Xaar’s patented Hybrid Side-Shooter™ platform with TF Technology™. These patented technologies combine to produce dynamically variable drop sizes essential for fine detail and readable small text as well as smooth tones reliably and consistently in single-pass applications. In addition to the Xaar 1001, Xaar will present its full range of printheads designed to enable manufacturers and integrators to match the best model for their specific needs.

The company’s unique XaarDOT™ (Drop Optimisation Technology) capability enables the production of variable-sized drops. XaarDOT™ flexibility gives users the ability to select drop size or resolution depending upon the application, image quality and substrate. Fine drops are important for close viewing, such as labels, while larger droplets are perfect for distance viewing, such as large format displays.
“The trend towards limited-run special offers, short-term marketing initiatives and multiple language variants are driving label and packaging manufacturers to look for alternative production methods,” explains Wangwei, Managing Director, Asia Pacific “Inkjet printing enables shorter runs to be produced cost-effectively and can be integrated into conventional flexo press lines if required to add personalization and versioning capabilities.
